HUFF HAPPY WITH CHEVY PROGRESS IN FRANCE
Robert Huff continued to improve the performance of his Chevrolet Lacetti
during the second event of the 2005 FIA World Touring Car Championship at
Magny Cours at the weekend. Despite struggling with engine problems which
dropped him to 30th in qualifying, 25 year-old Rob was happy with the handling
of his RML-prepared car and stormed his way to 15th place in the second race,
his highest finish of the season.
The first race saw a sterling drive from the Cambridge driver to claw his
way through to 19th at the flag. With the grid for the second race determined
by the finishing order of the first, he lined-up 19th and again drove a
remarkable race to take 15th at the flag his highest finish of the season so far.
"On the whole I think things are starting to come together well, we're
improving all the time and the race results at Magny Cours were better than
at Monza at the beginning of the Championship so I think we can be reasonably
happy. I had a few problems with the engine early on and although we could
have changed it, made the decision not to as it would have meant us dropping
10 places on the grid for the next race at Silverstone. That's my home track
and we'll have the new generation engine by then so it really wouldn't have
been the right thing to do."
"In the first event we were around the 20th mark, last weekend the 15th so
we've really got to be looking at around the 12th position for Silverstone
and getting a point would be a bonus. I'm looking forward to racing at home,
I'll have a lot of support there I'm sure".
Rob's next outing will be at Silverstone, Northamptonshire on May 14th/15th.
