HUFF STYLE CATCHES THE EYE

  • Huff attracting attention from other teams

Rob Huff is already attracting the attention of other racing teams after only four Formula Renault rounds, and just one finish.

The young Cambridge racer was rammed from behind while lying sixth in the latest round, at Silverstone, but received some immediate consolation.

"I had a couple of teams ring talking about the possibility of me racing for them next season," he said, "I've had horrendous luck in the last few rounds, but they've seen that I've been on the pace with the leaders.

"It's been frustrating crashing out, but two of the incidents were not down to me, and it's been very pleasing that I've been able to get so close to the front runners after so few laps, and with a fairly inexperienced team.

"I was running sixth at Silverstone after starting 11th on the grid because of mechanical trouble in testing, and I was going well until I encountered my old friend, Brazillian driver Luis Mussi, again.

"He braked too early going into Luffield, which meant I had to do the same, but the driver behind me didn't react quickly enough and slammed into me. I got the car back on the circuit after a couple of spins on the grass, but found that a back wheel arm had been damaged. That was knocking off six seconds a lap, so I had no alternative but to drop out.

"That's three times in a row, but I can see with a bit more experience and the right car setup I could be challenging the leaders at this level, sooner than I expected.

"After the encouragement of the interest from the other teams, I can't wait to get going again at Donington at the end of the month."
