HUFF ACHIEVES YET ANOTHER PODIUM
- Second place north of the border
Cambridge driver Robert Huff achieved a fantastic second place finish during
round 11 of the ELF Clio Renaultsport UK Cup at Knockhill in Scotland yesterday
- his efforts also earning him the Michelin Driver of the Day award into the
bargain.
Having qualified his Tim Sugden Motorsport car in fifth place Huff made a
decent start and on lap three moved up from fourth, past Daniel Buxton, before
moving into second past Eoin Murray on lap six.
Murray re-passed the Cambridge driver but then spun at the hairpin near the
end of lap 10 gifting Robert second place once more which is where he remained
until the chequered flag.
Jason Templeman led the race throughout from pole position but from around
lap 15 onwards Huff began to put the Total Control Racing driver under some
intense pressure as his tyres began to lose grip.
The result was Robert's sixth podium in his debut Clio Cup season and he's
aiming to secure that elusive first win before the end of the year. He said:
"I've been on the podium a few times this year but haven't actually been on
the top spot yet. A 20 lap race is a long time and after about 15 laps I saw
that Jason's tyres were bothering him. Obviously this is my first year here
and so I'm still learning but hopefully I can come back next year and look
to win the championship."
